What is AI4GOV-X?
Accelerating Europe’s AI and Digital Governance Transformation
Grasping the opportunities of AI to fasten the pace of digitalisation of public services and policies is a core challenge for all European countries. AI4Gov-X proposes and experiments with new and innovative skill-building approaches to empower civil servants and policymakers in leveraging the rapid pace of digital technological developments, helping public sector organisations effectively adopt AI and digital technologies in a trustworthy manner to address the needs of citizens, businesses, and the entire society.
Vision
We aim to equip current policymakers and next-generation leaders with the competencies and skills necessary to assess and effectively utilise Artificial Intelligence for public services, as well as manage data and knowledge, thereby enhancing evidence-based policy-making and driving public sector innovation. By doing so, we contribute to the European approach towards a human-centric and sovereign Digital transformation.
Our Mission
AI4Gov-X delivers tailored learning experiences and capacity-building for civil servants, policymakers, and digital governance professionals across Europe and beyond. Through interdisciplinary training and capacity building programmes, based on design-thinking, data-driven techniques and project-based learning, complemented by a virtual environment for experimentation and computational modelling support.

Provide Hands-on learning and in real-world settings through sandboxing and experimentation.
Guide public sector organisations to implement trustworthy AI systems and ensure human-centric digital transformation of governance systems.
The main features of AI4Gov-X are:
- Strategic purpose: personalised training and capacity building programmes focusing on AI and data governance to align with business and societal needs for enhancing evidence-based policy making and more efficient and proactive public services.
- Functional perspective: A unique training and upskilling offer supporting civil servants, public and private sector executives, and policymakers in mastering AI and digital governance transformation design, procurement adoption and use.
- Multi-sectoral orientation: concrete use cases and project-based learning activities drawn across different public service domains, from mobility to justice, healthcare and education and different governance levels, from urban to regional, national and global.
- Dynamic Knowledge ecosystem: a network of peer experts established to share experiences and address common challenges from the implementation of policies and technical solutions complying with EU legislation to the harmonisation with international standards and frameworks, to the co-design of innovative public services and exchange of good practices from Europe and globally.
