ReSPA brought together policymakers, senior public administration officials and digital transformation practitioners from across the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership for two days focused on a question that sits at the heart of AI4Gov-X: how do public administrations get from principles and pilot projects to responsible AI running in real public services?

Day one set the policy and governance ground, with a workshop on responsible and ethical AI in public administration covering transparency, human oversight and what the EU AI Act asks of public bodies. Day two turned practical, with a hands-on session on designing and operating AI regulatory sandboxes, drawing on experience from Spain and the wider EU.

AI4Gov-X Project Manager Francesco Molinari presented how the project supports this transition, through capacity building for public-sector professionals alongside sandbox experimentation and the funding pathways that make participation possible. AI4Gov-X partner Goran Pastrovic contributed to two further sessions, on AI adoption across the region and on the road to simpler public services, where MagiX featured as part of the upskilling picture for administrations building these competences in house.
