Every public institution is working through the same question right now. The AI strategy exists. Does the workforce exist to deliver it?

FARI, CEPS and VUCABLE are hosting an evening built around that question, marking the local launch of MagiX, the Specialising Master in AI, Governance Innovation and Digital Transformation.

Amy Carmichael of the Ada Lovelace Institute opens with a keynote drawn from her research into how UK local authorities and social care services are adopting AI in practice, and whether oversight is keeping pace with rollout. A moderated discussion then widens the conversation to what a real skills gap looks like inside public administration, how AI adoption can narrow or widen existing inequalities between institutions and their staff, and what public sector work becomes once these tools are part of daily practice.

The session is informal, with an open Q&A and networking over drinks to close.

People who work in or with government and feel the distance between the AI strategy on the shelf and the AI already happening on the ground. Equally relevant if you are building towards that kind of role. Public sector professionals, policymakers, GovTech practitioners, researchers and students are all welcome.
