Building public-sector AI capacity: AI4Gov-X symposium in The Hague

On 7 September 2026, AI4Gov-X held its public symposium “Building Public-Sector AI Capacity” at TU Delft Campus The Hague, opening the week’s consortium meeting. Speakers and panellists joined in person, while participants from the wider AI4Gov-X network followed online.

The afternoon looked at a question many administrations are facing: how to build the capabilities needed to work with AI responsibly as the technology keeps evolving. The first panel, with Mariko Peters (Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Sven Stevenson (Dutch DPA) and Karolina Iwańska (European Center for Not-for-profit Law), focused on what public administrations need as AI moves from policy ambition and experimentation into everyday practice. Education came into focus in the second panel, where Gianluca Carlo Misuraca (AI4Gov-X), Catelijne Muller (ALLAI) and Colin van Noordt (Dutch Court of Audit) discussed how professional training and knowledge partnerships can strengthen public-sector AI capacity, and where education alone is not enough.

MagiX featured throughout the programme. After an introduction to the Specialising Master, short presentations later in the afternoon showed how selected courses respond to the challenges raised in the panels.

The day ended with a networking reception for speakers, participants and partners. Thank you to TU Delft for hosting.
